The U.S. Olympic Training Center is located in the Eastern Portion of Chula Vista, near the Eastlake Vistas, Eastlake Trails, and Eastlake Greens Neighborhoods.
The Olympic Training Center located in Chula Vista is an official U.S. Olympic Committee training facility dedicated to the development of America's current and future Olympic athletes participating in nine sports including archery, rowing, canoe/kayak, soccer, softball, field hockey, tennis, track and field, and cycling. The Center in Chula Vista (Eastlake) is the first USOC training facility to be master-planned from the ground up and is dedicated to the development of America's future Olympic athletes.
The Training Center in Chula Vista opened in June of 1995 and because of the location of Chula Vista, this training center get almost year-round, warm-weather; which is a plus for the athletes. The Training Center is a 150 acre complex located next to the Lower Otay Lake.
The Training Center not only benefits thousands of Olympic hopefuls (an estimated 4,000 each year), but it serves local youth and citizens nationwide. Thousands of student athletes and coaches use the Center for clinics and competitions when venues are not being utilized by Olympic athletes-in-training.
The Training Center has been designed to accommodate thousands of daily visitors with escorted tours of our nation's state-of-the-art national Training Center at no charge. Students from the Chula Vista Elementary School District take regular field trips to the center.
Visitors begin their experience at the Copley Visitor Center. There are guided and self-guided tours at this facility. On the tour they can see, first-hand, Olympic athletes in training from an elevated visitor promenade known as the Conrad N. Hilton Olympic Path.
The entire Olympic Training Comples includes the largest outdoor Archery Range in North America, an 8-lane running track and six-acre throwing area for field events, Field Hockey Complex, Soccer Complex, Tennis Complex, Cycling Criterium, the Boathouse for the 3,000 meter rowing course on the Lower Otay Lake, and a Softball Field. The softball facilities were built with the help of the City of Chula Vista and the James G. Boswell Foundation.
